Kenya, Africa A Leardership Experience for Life

Hi! ¡Hola! :)

My name is Fermarie Santiago , I am currently part of the National Support Team in Talent Management (NST TM) AIESEC Nicaragua.  I have been a member of AIESEC Sagrado since January 2010 and the year I was the Local Committee President (LCP) of AIESEC Sagrado  from 2011-2012 I got the opportunity to represent my entity and country in the biggest congress of the organization IC KENIA 2011. And I wanted to share this experience with every possible AIESECer and young person in the world!!!

IC Kenia 2011

It was my first international travel and it was a long one. I had the opportunity to stop in Amsterdam, The Netherlands to start meeting AIESECers that where going to the congress.  That's the part when I realized that I am always going to find an AIESECer in any part of the world, no matter what.

Amsterdam, The Netherlands!

When i arrived to Kenia after a long journey I didn't have time to sleep cause we all needed to be in the Open Ceremony. The place was beautiful and it was the same for the Global Village. Our delegation (Puerto Rico) had a table were 5 Puerto Ricans represented well our beautiful island.  :)  The purpose of a Global Village is to give external public the opportunity to meet people that show their country or territory.

After this we continue the agenda of the Congress.  This AIESEC Congress prepares the delegates in differents topics like Management of Non-Profit Organizations, Development of Leadership, Innovation and other topics.  The Conference in general was an excellent platform to meet people and new strategies to develop the organization.  I had the opportunity to meet Alumni, AI, and companies like: Electrolux, PwC, Vale, Artemisia and others.  I had the chance to work with many AIESECers since in a lot of the sections they divided us in groups.

Also, during IC we had Youth to Business Forum (Y2BF) were I had an amazing time in my group of work. The output of this event was put in a magazine.  :)

More than 600 delegates were in this congress.  We where at Nairobi, Kenya.  I had the oppotunity to see Marieliz Collazo (founder of AIESEC Sagrado) again. She was working in the Special Events of this congress.

I have to say that we as Puerto Ricans had representation with our delegation but also with Puerto Ricans working in Congress Committee Team and AIESEC International.  That makes me really happy!!! "Puerto Rico...Que Rico, Puerto Rico!"

Dancing with our delegation and Puerto Rican's around the world!!!!

Other important events were: The Gala Night and Alumni Hall Night where events that I really appreciate because those are symbols of recognition & sacrifices that members around the world do for the benefit of the organization.

Our table at the Gala Night!

My biggest goals in this congress was to reflect what I wanted to do in the organization, and represent my country and entity.  Well I can say today with such an honor that I'm Puerto Rican and that I want to keep working in this organization.

There's not enough words to describe this experience. But I just want to encourage YOU to live AIESEC and find your greatest potential on the way. This is a way of life cause now with such an honor I can say that I'm a Leader, Volunteer, Puerto Rican, Professional and a Global Citizen.  After this experience I can say a couple of things: everybody should at least once in their lives to Africa. To represent your country can be one of the best things that could ever happen to you, working for something that you love can be your philosophy of life.

Keep in touch because this is just the beggining of my AIESEC Experience!!!!   :D :D :D

Hi!

My name is Cristina Bailey, I am currently the Vice President of Outgoing Exchange (VP OGX) of AIESEC Sagrado. And I wanted to share with you guys the amaizing opportunity that I had to go to my first International Conference with AIESEC: ILC Chile 2012!

The travel was a long one. But I had the chance to stop in Bogotá, Colombia before Chile! We met some AIESECers that showed us Bogotá and opened so kindly their home to us. It was an awesome experience! To be walking on the streets of Colombia and hear: Hey AIESEC! It's a priceless feeling. That's the part when I realized that I am always going to find an AIESECer in any part of the world, no matter what.

Our awesome AIESEC hosts in Bogotá, Colombia!

When we arrived to Chile after a long journey we didn't had time to feel sleepy or tired. We were on our way to the Global Village. Our delegation (Puerto Rico) were of 3 people, but they were delegations of almost 30-40 people. In the future I hope that we will be more! :)

The Conference in general was very exciting and interesting. Had the opportunity to meet Alumni, AI, and companies like: Electrolux and PwC. We were divided in topics and groups, so we were able to share with every member in the conference.

Also, during the ILC was created a movement for the education called: Youth 2 Education. Where we had to reach many people as we could through AIESEC, physically and virtually to give a message that: Education is the Future, what are you doing today?

More than 300 delegates united with one cause, the education. We all were on the streets of Viña del Mar, Chile talking to the people about this iniciative and taking pictures. While virtually we were on Facebook, Twitter, etc. The response was amaizing, and we hope to keep impacting more people.

I have to say that we as Puerto Ricans and also a very small delegation our representation was great....everyone was: Puerto Rico...Que Rico, Puerto Rico!

There were many funny moments during the conference, like right here....the FACI's and AI dancing Beyonce's "All the single ladies". :D :D :D :D

But they were also moments of reflection and of thinking, why am I here, why am I doing this, What is AIESEC for me? I just can say that I found my answers. There's no perfect or general answer for everyone, I think that each one has to search for it on the journey.

There's no enough words to describe this experience. But I just want to encourage YOU to live AIESEC and find your answers on the way. This is more than an organization. AIESEC is a way of life.

Let's see which would be the next AIESEC International adventure... :D :D :D
